Payment Arrangements

Payment arrangements help customers avoid losing water service with more time to pay the balance. There are two options available: one that offers a little extra time to pay the full balance, and another that divides the balance into monthly installments.

Eligibility:
  • Must have a Louisville Water and MSD residential account
  • Cannot be enrolled in Auto Pay
  • Must have received at least two bill statements from Louisville Water
  • Account number and service address needed to apply
  • A small one-time fee of 3-5% will be added based on timing within the billing cycle

MSD Wastewater Rate Assistance Program

The MSD Emergency Wastewater Rate Assistance Program provides a 30% discount on wastewater charges and the consent decree surcharges for income-eligible households.

Eligibility:
  • Must be the main account holder or listed on the account
  • Must be receiving metered water service for a property used solely for residential purposes, and owned or leased by a customer as primary residence
  • Not currently receiving MSD’s Senior Citizen discount as of date of application
  • Total household income at or below 175 percent of the poverty line
  • Account number
  • Service address
  • Current total monthly income, number of household members
  • Must apply annually; funding cycles begin in the fall and run for 12 months
  • Following approval into the program, the discount may take up to two billing cycles to become active

MSD Senior Citizen Discount

The MSD Senior Citizen Discount offers a 30% discount on wastewater charges and the consent decree surcharges for qualifying households.

Eligibility:
  • Must be the main account holder or listed on the account
  • Must be receiving metered water service for a property used solely for residential purposes, and owned or leased by customer as primary residence
  • Not currently receiving MSD’s Emergency Wastewater Rate Assistance discount as of date of application
  • Total household annual income at or below $40,000
  • Account number
  • Service address
  • Current total monthly income, number of household members
  • Participants must reapply for the program every three years
  • Following approval into the program, the discount may take up to two billing cycles to become active

Partner Agency Financial Support

Drops of Kindness partner agencies, funded through the Louisville Water Foundation, can often help with financial support and other resources.

How it works:
  • Community nonprofit agencies receive funding from the Louisville Water Foundation to help customers pay their Louisville Water and MSD bill
  • Customers connect directly with an agency in their residential area for support
  • Customers may still qualify for other Drops of Kindness options at the same time
